Elisa Gallegos Ortega, Age :87

Feb 25,1932---Mar 08,2019

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of a wonderful mother, wife, grandmother, aunt and sister.  Elisa Gallegos Ortega, 87, left this earth on Friday, March 8 after enduring a long illness.  She was a natural cook, almost magically creating wonderful meals for family and friends with “a little of this, a little of that”.  She started cooking at the age of 5 while standing on a chair when her grandmother was ill.  Her grandmother referred to her as Mrs. Ortega at a young age.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching Jeopardy, crossword puzzles and attending her church.  Her faith in God kept her going in times of strife.  She will be missed dearly.

Elisa is survived by her children Teresa (Alan), Evangeline (Leroy), Mary Katherine, Raymond and Christopher (Robin).  Also surviving are her sisters Francis, Margie (Lin) and her brothers Juan, John (Jean), Andres (Sally), and Tony, also sister-in-law Toni and former son-in-law Telesfor.  She leaves 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.   Elisa was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Edwardo.  Also preceded in her death were step-son Edward, sons Filiberto, Frank, and Steven as well as brothers Margarito and Eloy, sisters Emma and Delfinia, parents Frank and Maria  and grandparents Pedro and Senovia.

Elisa will be buried in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe on March 18 next to her husband of 37 years.

Dear Ortega, I have fond memories of Mrs. Ortega when Raymond attended OLOS. We had many wonderful talks over a cup of coffee. She was a beautiful person. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I’m sending my sincere condolences to the Ortega family and friends. This is one of life’s greatest challenges that we have to face. The Bible offers much comfort for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. John 5:28-29 shows us how there will be a resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in death. Revelation 21:4 speaks of a time when death will be no more. If you would like to learn more details about this, please visit Jw.org for the answer to many of life’s questions.
