John Vicens

Jul 18,1940---May 12,2019

John was born July 18th, 1940 in Honolulu, Hawaii to his amazing parents, Joseph and Julia Vicens. He enlisted into the Marine Corp, where he proudly served his country. A few years later in California he met his 'knock out' of a wife of 55 years, Gloria Vicens. After serving in the military, John worked and retired from the Kirtland Air Force base working for the commissary.

John was looked up to by many as a father, a grandpa, an uncle and a friend. He was a man that got things done and taught us how to be the men and women we have all grown to be today. He was a man that loved to work on his yard every day and kept it up with great pride. He gave us his pearls of wisdom and in the wise words of John ''Listen to me and you’ll be farting through silk". As we all move forward, remember whenever you don’t feel strong, know that he is there and all you have to do is' lean on him'.

John was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Julia Vicens, his brother Joe Vicens, his sisters Tita Boskie, Linda Gomes, Yolanda Juvera, Liz Dominici, and Jordan Dominici, his niece Paulette Block, his dear friend Tony Zulim and his cuñado Lee Leyba. He is survived by his wife Gloria Leyba Vicens, His two daughters Deanna Vicens and Bobbie Brown (husband Calvin), his grandchildren Jozette Vicens, Jonnel Vicens, Jovonna Vicens, Jollena Vicens, Kim Olivas (husband Ralph) and Michelle Black (husband Timo), his great grandchildren Sydney, Alisha, Alex, Raelee, Grayson, Josiah and Scarlet, his nephews David Wayne Dominici (wife Yvette), Victor Dale Dominici, John Gaberiel, Carlos Hernandez (wife Matalina) and David Hernandez (wife Valerie), his niece Dewan Jones (husband Thomas), his brother-in-law Cylde Leyba (wife Lilian and family) and two sister-in-laws Dolly Leyba (and family) and Viola Wintersberger (and family).
