David R. Montaño, Age :69

David R. Montaño was born in Raton, NM on February 3,1950.  He passed away at his family home in Los Lunas, NM on September 3, 2019.  David was preceded in death by his parents, Gabriel and Petra Baca Montaño.  He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Rhodes Montaño, his son Adam and his daughter Elizabeth and her husband Teles Sanchez.  David was the proud grandfather of nine: Josh and Maddie Montaño, Marinus, Genevieve, Roque, Apollonia, Kepha, Ignacio, and Joseph Louis Sanchez.  He is also survived by his brother Patrick Montaño of Albuquerque, NM.  
David retired in 2007 after more than 28 years in the New Mexico Air National Guard.  He was a member of San Clemente Catholic Church in Los Lunas, NM where he was an usher until his illness.  He previously served as an Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion and as a Mayordomo.  
Mass will be held at San Clemente Church Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:00am.  He will be laid to rest in the Santa Fe National Cemetery Tuesday, September 17 at 9:00am.  Our beloved will be missed by family, friends and many members of the San Clemente Church community.  He prayerfully offered his fight against cancer as suffering that would unite him with Christ.
