Kathy was at Gov Bent Elementary in nursing office when my children were students there. She made such a good impression. I'm an RN with high standards. My children had some ongoing medical needs. Kathy was sharp and so caring! I truly appreciated her. I'm sure she touched a lot of lives and will be missed greatly.

I worked with Kathy at Governor Bent elementary. As a co-worker and mother, I always will appreciate the loving care she provided. One day Kathy called me over the intercom, "Your son's here." I asked which one. She laughed and said "Which one do you think?" Our oldest son had health issues and was a regular. Her humor told me it wasn't anything serious, just the usual. It had the calming effect I needed.

Kathy was so generous in her time and love for school students and staff. She was a colleague of mine and a good friend to my youngest son at Gov. Bent Elem. who ended up her in office quite frequently. Kathy was the matriarch of the family always giving advice, love and counsel. She was blunt, yet caring in her advice. Kathy had such a whit and sense of humor. She loved to laugh. Kathy was willing to pray for others and counted it a privilege. We will miss her strength, her encouragement and sense of humor. Rest my friend in His arms.

Our condolences to Joe and family, we’re so sorry for your loss. My mom Evelyn (Martinez) Romero is Joe’s first cousin and my family saw the Vigil family often when they lived in California. Joe, Kathy and their children knew my wife Gina before I met her. As a young girl, Gina played with the Vigil children when visiting her cousins who lived across the street from the Vigil family. We all attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hawthorne, CA. I will always remember how nice and kind Kathy was to me and my family and how happy she was when she found out that Gina and I were getting married. Rest in peace Kathy and may God bless you and your family.
