Richard James Garcia, Age :55

Mar 17,1964---Oct 01,2019

Richard James Garcia, 55, passed away at 5:06 a.m., Tuesday, October 1, 2019, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  While his end was sudden, he passed doing what he loved—living life.

Richard was born March 17, 1964 in Albuquerque, New Mexico and spent the much of his life in the local area.  As the second of five children, Richard learned the importance of family early.  In 1979, he met the love of his life, Pat, in high school and never looked back.  Knowing he had found an awesome partner in life, Richard married Pat on July 12, 1980.  Over the next 40 years, she would be his foundation through life’s joys and its challenges.

Their family grew early with the addition of their first child, Grace, in 1980.  Knowing that he wanted to provide his young family with a good life, Richard joined the United States Navy in 1984.  For 10 years, he served his country faithfully and honorably as a true patriot.

During this time, Richard and Pat gained a new addition to their family.  Their only son, Rick, was born in 1987.  Realizing the desire to be close to family, Richard decided to leave the Navy and move his family back to Albuquerque.  Over the next several years, Richard focused on what would become the most important theme in his life—family.

He took joy in being an outstanding husband and amazing dad.  Knowing how much love he had left to give, God blessed Richard and Pat with their second daughter, Alaina, in 2001.  Throughout nearly two more decades, he was honored with seven grand-children and his heart was never too full to find a place for them.  Whether it was enjoying nature, teaching his kids and grand-kids to be expert fishermen, or just hanging out with those who had the privilege of knowing him, Richard was a man who knew what was important.  His light touched those around him and, while the world became a little dimmer on October 1, 2019, the light Richard brought to the lives of those who loved him will live on forever.

In the end, Richard James Garcia was love.  And he showed it.  Unconditionally.

Richard is survived by his wife, Pat; daughters, Grace and Alaina; son, Rick; brothers, Victor, Michael, and Stephen; sister, Loretta; seven grand-children; and countless others whose lives were positively impacted by him.

Funeral Service is Wednesday, October 9, 2019, from 1:30pm - 3:30pm at Riverside Funeral Home ABQ, NM 87108.

Weep not for me though I have gone
Into that gentle night
Grieve if you will, but not for long
Upon my soul’s sweet flight

I am at peace, my soul’s at rest
There is no need for tears
For with your love I was so blessed
For all those many years

There is no pain, I suffer not
The fear is now all gone
Put now these things out of your thoughts
In your memory, I live on

Remember not my fight for breath
Remember not the strife
Please do not dwell upon my death
But celebrate my life
