Connie Hansen

Apr 29,1929---Oct 30,2019

Connie Hansen, 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, surrounded by her family.  Connie was born in El Salvador on the 29th day of April 1929 to Charles and Concepcion (Melgares) Richmond.

As the youngest of 8 children, she grew up in the Oakland hills of California on a farm.  She attended St. Elizabeth High School and went on to attend cosmetology school.  She worked as a cosmetologist and also as a telephone operator for Bell Telephone.

In 1948 Connie met the love of her life, Russell Hansen, a returning World War 2 veteran.  They were married for 70 years.  In addition to her loving husband Russell, she is survived by two daughters, Karen Hodapp of Moorpark, CA and Kris Binkley of Kill Devil Hills, NC, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Connie loved being a homemaker.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She will be missed by all.

In 1978 Connie retired with her husband Russ to New Mexico.  She was active in helping to coordinate Mrs. America pageants in Albuquerque and also worked with Welcome Wagon.  She was also very proud to be a member of the New Mexico Mayflower Society.  Connie loved living in Albuquerque.  She would say it was such a beautiful city with a lot of sunny days.

A memorial to Connie will be held at a later date.  Connie’s family would like to thank the UNM ICU and Anna Kaseman Hospice for the wonderful care and kindness they gave to her.

In lieu of flowers donations in her name may be made to your local chapter of the SPCA or to Father Flanagan’s Boys Home in Boys Town, NE.

When I didn’t receive my annual holiday card and note from Connie I feared something was wrong. We were long distance friends for almost 40 years. She was my #1 fan when I sang professionally. She spoke of her family often. Sincere condolences. :(
