Howard B. "Steven" Landrum II, Age :54

Jul 19,1965---Nov 28,2019

Howard B. “Steven” Landrum II, age 54, passed away from a heart attack on November 28, 2019, in Santa Fe, NM.

Steven was born in Amarillo, Texas on July 19, 1965 to Howard B. Landrum I and Betty Jo Ann Landrum.  Steven grew up with a love for horses, nature, and art.  His artistic talents were varied but his favorite was painting, sculpting, photography, and landscaping.

Steven moved to Santa Fe over 25 years ago to follow his love of the arts.  Many of his pieces were displayed in prominent galleries across Santa Fe and he was heavily involved with the Santa Fe Opera community.

Steven was a compassionate man involved in many charities.  A few of his favorites honored local Police and Firefighters, The Barks-A-Lot Ball and many others.

Gifting total strangers with a sandwich or the youth clubs with turkeys for the holidays.  However, the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society really held a special place in his heart.  He has rescued many beloved dogs from there, Zeak and Luther being the last of his boys.  He often spoke of the place, love and acceptance he received from them as they would look deep into his eyes. “It doesn’t get much better.” He once said to his sister.

The life he lived was reflected in his actions.  Be kind to others you never know the hell they have seen or lived.

For those who knew him and loved him, the void he leaves is unfillable, but the laughter, the joy, and the fast pace of his humor will be forever missed and eternally unforgettable.

Steven is survived by his Mother, Betty Jo Ann Landrum, his three sisters and their spouses.  Brenda and Keith Ford, Myra and David Albright, and Bettylou “Blou” and Mike Shimon.  His nieces and nephews are Jerri (Albright) and Nick Borges, Nate and Sarah Albright, Jediah Shimon, McKenna Ford, and Eden Shimon.  5 grandnephews and a grandniece.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Santa Fe Animal Shelter and Humane Society, 100 Casa Del Rio, Santa Fe, NM 87507, in the name of Steven Landrum.

I will miss my friend dearly. We shared a love for animals. He once told me after one of my dogs died and I was deeply saddened, " I now know why I love you so much". ❤❤❤

I worked many years with Steven at the Eldorado Hotel. He was a wonderful kind, gentle soul. He taste and work ethic were impeccable and he was the best Butler at the hotel. I always loved his happy disposition and he was kind to all the staff. Recently after many years, I ran into him . He recognized me and we chatted. I'm happy I had this recent encounter with him. We love you Steve. Our deepest condolences to his family.

Steven and I met in 1997. We shared a mutual friend Michael Crenshaw, who had brought us together by the passing of his life. From that day forward we became friends and spent many wonderful times together over all these years; going to opening nights of the Opera, up to the mountains in fall with our dogs Humberto and Benjamin. He was always loving and kind to my granddaughter Isabella whom he met when she was 3, and would take her shopping when she needed a male figure in her life. Over the last seven years he got to know my grandson Gabriel, and would help him with swimming. We both love to cook and set a beautiful table, we had many elegant dinners and Christmas Eves together in the beautiful setting of his home. I will miss him and our time together. He was kind, generous, and had a big heart. He will always be in my heart and in my thoughts, I will never forget him!

BUDDIES ,Santa Fe ,New Mexico

I met Steven over 25yrs ago while tending bar at The Ore House on the Plaza. He mentioned he'd just moved here and was looking to make friends. By the end of the evening we exchanged phone numbers and addresses and dinner planned within the week. We actually lived only two blocks from one another! Steven was talented artist, a great cook, and an AWESOME host! Through the years we'd gone out dined, danced and usually end up at one of our homes and chat until dawn. Christmases spent in his home were Magical, every corner of his home was decorated from Gated entrance to bathroom's towels. Most recently he purchased a trailer and spoke of traveling the country with his dogs. I JOKED I too was ready to sell-off my WORLDY possessions and join him. I Love and miss your SPIRIT but memories of GOOD times will never be forgotten! Until WE meet again GODSPEED RIP!

I met Cowboy Steven at The Ore House on the SF Plaza after he'd just moved here from Tx. Before the evening ended we'd exchanged numbers and addresses for dinner planned within the next few days. Strange enough we only lived 2 blocks from one another. Steven had the best eye for home decor, art and cowboy boots. Steven was a GREAT cook and always the BEST HOST! Through the years we'd done, dance and inevitably end up at one of our homes and chat until dawn. Christmas in his home was MAGICAL and decorated impeccably from gated entrance, every nook to bathroom towels. I will miss your indomitable SPIRIT but always have memories of a TRUE friends LOVE & sincere caring. Until we meet again Amigo, RIP!

RIP STEVEN (COWBOY STEVE) LANDRUM I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PEOPLE STEVEN MET WHEN HE MOVED TO SANTA FE. HIS EYE FOR HOME DESIGN, cowboy boots, ART BOTH 2 DIMENSIONAL & HIS STORY TELLERS (NATIVE POTTERY) UNSURPASSED! Through the years we dine, dance and inevitably end up at one of our homes and chat until dawn. CHRISTMAS in his home was MAGICAL. Decorated from gated entrance to bathroom towels, the most generous ENTERTAINER and HOST. Every nook & cranny carefully planned with the most beautiful ornaments. I WILL MISS YOUR indomitable SPIRIT DEARLY, UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN.

I can’t describe the sadness that I feel since I learned of the passing of my dear friend Steven. Over the past 23 years we have shared the best and wort times together. Steven has been a rock for me in my life and a joy. We have had the most amazing friendship, and have had some of the most unforgettable times of my life together. We have shared our truest feelings and the best bellyaching laughs to where I would have to leave the room to catch my breath. I know your spirit will always be with me my friend and I will NEVER forget you. With great sorrow and sadness please know you are forever in my heart and I will never forget all the amazing times we shared and your amazing generosity and beautiful spirit. All my love! Frankie
