Silverio Sisneros

Nov 22,1941---Jan 28,2020

Silverio Sisneros, 78, of Dahlia, New Mexico, beloved father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2020. Silverio passed away from terminal cancer while in hospice care. He was born on November 22, 1941 in Tecolotito, New Mexico to Leandro and Adela Sisneros. Silverio grew up in the Dahlia and Anton Chico, New Mexico region.  He joined the United States Air Force and served honorably for a short period.  He was a master carpenter and union member before he followed in his father’s footsteps and returned to his ancestral home in Dahlia. He spent the rest of his life doing the work he loved as a rancher. His greatest pleasures in life were; horses, cattle, solitude, dancing, and of course the ladies.

Silverio is survived by his beloved partner Andrea Armijo, his son and daughter in law Meliton and Susan Sisneros, sisters Adela Apodaca and Yolanda Quintana, grandson Francisco Sisneros, granddaughter Sarah Sisneros, and many other friends and family. Silverio, “Uncle Cowboy” will be dearly missed by his family and all that have known him.  May he rest peacefully and reunite with all whom he has loved.

A special thank you to Andrea Armijo’s daughter Sylvia Syfert for being by my father’s side when I, his son could not be there.  My father had a special place in his heart for you!

Thank you to the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center and the Bear Creek Rehabilitation Facility in Albuquerque for all the care that you gave my father.

A rosary service will be held at Riverside Funeral Home Chapel, 209 San Mateo Blvd. NE in Albuquerque, New Mexico on February 15th, 2020 at 1:30 pm. A private family burial will be held at Santo Nino de Atocha Mission Cemetery, Dahlia, New Mexico at a later date.

Friend and fellow rancher ,Las Vegas ,New Mexico

I am sorry I couldn't make it to Silverios services . Silverio was a good friend and mentor to me. He offered his life experiences to me and was an inspiration to me in reference to how simply he lived. He reminded me so much of my grandmother, Mela Martinez Maes. Silverio was a life-saver during my ranching years in Dahlia. I spent many days and nights buying hay from Silverio and visiting with him next to the stove getting warm and listening to him for hours commenting on politics, news, books he was reading, rain, drought, snow and the local ranchers in Dahlia. He was always my ride to Vegas when I'd get stuck or my truck would break down. He always helped me immensely with fencing and other chores around the ranch. Silverio was the essence of Dahlia to me and it will never be the same without him. I will miss him more than anyone can imagine Sincerely, Jack Maes 505-429-3000
