Nenette was born on April 25, 1935 in San Juan, Rizal, Philippines to parents David and Potenciana (Cruz) Santos. Nenette grew up in the Philippines and graduated valedictorian of her high school class. She attended Far Eastern University in Manila, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She then ventured to the US to attend Loyola University in Chicago, IL, where she earned a Master’s in Education/Counseling. She later earned another degree in Counseling and Psychology from Western New Mexico University.

It was at Loyola University where she met her husband, Raymond J. Boucher. They married on July 4, 1963 and later had three sons, Raymond, Ronald and Richard Boucher. She was an attentive and loving mother, who was always proud to share pictures and details about her children.

As a family, the Bouchers lived in various places, including Microneisa (Chuck, Palau,) Philippines, New York, Marshall Islands, and New Mexico (Tohatchi, Gallup,) where she primarily worked as an educator and a counselor. After their children were grown, Nenette and Ray lived in Gallup, the Marshall Islands and Albuquerque.

Nenette was proud of her Filipino heritage and enjoyed making traditional foods and teaching others traditional Filipino songs and dances.  Nenette was enthusiastic in whatever she did. She enjoyed cooking, reading, traveling, and documenting events through scrapbooking, but most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Nenette’s faith was her foundation. As a young adult, she was a Columban Sister in the Roman Catholic Church. She decided to leave the sisterhood before marrying Ray. Wherever she lived, Nenette was an involved member of the Church, and she remained a faithful servant of God.

Nenette is survived by husband Raymond J. Boucher, Children Raymond M. (Bonnie) Boucher, Albuquerque, NM, Ronald Boucher (fiancé Aurora Curelaru & her son Nicholas Krumland), Portland, OR, Richard (Sylvia) Boucher, Albuquerque, NM, Grandchildren Gavin Boucher and Kaili Boucher, Albuquerque, NM, Sisters Florencia Santos Sta Maria and Lourdes Ortiz, Philippines. Nenette was predeceased by her Parents, Siblings Rogelio Santos, Alicia Milan, and Grandson Christopher Boucher.

Colleagues

Please accept our sympathies for the loss of your wife, mother, family member. Nenette was an incredibly dedicated educator, helping so many students at Tohatchi over the years to take advantage of opportunities for education and life-expanding experiences. Without a doubt, her positive energy and hard work and love for those students has, and will continue to have, lasting ripple effects for generations to some. Well done Mrs. Boucher!
