Adele "Dee" Eileen Murphy Smith, Age :73

Dee Smith, 73, passed away Sunday. Services were held at the Riverside Funeral Home in Los Lunas, New Mexico. Pastor Ramon Martinez from Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley resided. She was laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Mrs. Smith was a resident of Belen, NM for the last three years. She was born in San Francisco, California in 1947. Adele was raised as a farm girl in the northwest corner of the Texas Panhandle. She met her husband, Lawrence Smith, while attending college at Texas Tech University. They made a life in various areas of Texas, Colorado and New Mexico.

She was a loving mother of two children. A grandmother of seven grandchildren and a great-grandmother of three. She was a crochet artist creating memorable items that would be used and enjoyed by her family for years. Her most favorite creation being individual baby blankets for each grand and great-grandchild.

She was a lover of mountains, birds, butterflies and wildlife of all sorts. Dee loved to do puzzles, play games and go bowling. She was the greatest sports fan of her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lawrence, a daughter Deann (Jeff) Honeycutt, a son Drue (Nikki), grandchildren; Gage and Cody Grimmett, Caleb, Jacob (Nicole), Hannah, Grace, ad Adelynn Honeycutt, and great-grandchildren Amirah Grimmett, Joy Smith, and Arias Lopez.

She is also survived by sister-in-law Shirley (David) Burris, niece Tamarah (Rick) Schirm, nephew Sean Winters, as well as three great nieces and one great nephew.
