Diana K. (Mallow) Abella, Age :74

Nov 26,1945---Jun 17,2020

Diana K. (Mallow) Abella, age 74, passed away surrounded by her loving family on June 17, 2020 due to CNS Lymphoma. She brightened this world on November 26, 1945 in Wellington, Texas to John David and Juanita Mallow. She is preceded in death by her late husband Bernard Weinstein, who died in 2011.

Diana was vibrant with a fantastic smile that often lit up a room. She loved to decorate and always made her surroundings more beautiful than how she found them. She made it a lifelong habit of entering the home of a family or friend with something to “spruce up the place”. She volunteered at Popejoy Hall, University of New Mexico, where once again she brought her smile, style and enthusiasm for the performing arts. Ultimately, her final passion was her grandchildren whom she adored.

Diana spent her life working as a decorator. After moving to Santa Fe, New Mexico, she formed her own decorating business focusing on window treatments touching the world with her creative beauty.

Diana is survived by her daughter, Heather Abella; grandchildren, Isaac Wayne, Abella Wayne and Luke Wayne; sister Peggy Mallow and husband Doug Pomeroy; step-daughter and husband Nora and Kevin Mullen; step-son John Bodnar; niece Kristin Kalangis and children Zoe and Shane Unverferth; nephew Alex Kalangis and wife Svenja Soldovieri and children Gigi and Enzo Kalangis. Along with several cousins whom she loved and touched deeply.

Due to Covid-19 her celebration of life will be postponed until we can gather in a safe manner and in an environment that Diana would have loved.

Don and I send our condolences to all of Diana’s family. Yes, she lite up a room with her smile. We had so much fun as kids when our parents would get together. I am so grateful that I got to be with her at Aunt Maudie’s 100th Birthday party. I especially enjoyed hearing her laugh again!
