Dorothy Danielson

Jul 17,1939---Jun 22,2020

Dorothy Danielson, age 80, born in Minnesota, our Mother, sister, grandma and dear friend to countless others, passed away on Monday June 22, 2020 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orin Danielson, her sons Brian and Jeff Gatzke, and her brothers Gene and Jim Eder. She will be dearly missed by her sister Marlene Belisle in Wisconsin, daughters Sandra Gatzke and Debra Gatzke of New Mexico, Brenda Hance (Brad) of Virginia, and Rhonda Danielson of Wisconsin. A son Dean Danielson (Debbie) of Colorado; her grandchildren Jeremy Gatzke (Angel) of Wisconsin, Kenndra Wells (Troy) of Virginia, Brittany Danielson of Wisconsin, DeAnn Miller (Shawn) of Colorado, Dustin Leue of New Mexico, Dylan Danielson of Colorado and Jeffrey Gatzke Jr. of New Mexico; and her great-grandchildren Daisy, Danica, Xavier, Mason, Serenity and Easton. She is also survived by a niece Carolyn Dubuque, and many more nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous other family members.

Dorothy was a people person and always made friends. Family was her life. She grew up in Minnesota and loved to fish and sun on the boat. She also played softball and was the pitcher. She had quite a few shiners as we were growing up. Dorothy also owned her own cleaning business cleaning newly constructed houses built by Amrep in Rio Rancho. Dorothy also went to work at Intel where she later on retired. She met people galore, they called her Big Red and Mama Bear. She loved her work family just like her own family. Always wanted a get together. She loved the casino and playing cards and with this pandemic, she was missing these activities. Dorothy lived most of her adult life in Rio Rancho, NM. She loved the climate and the beautiful Sandia Mountains. Dorothy never did like the computer or the phone, it was too technical for her but, she did after some time learn to like texting. Most of her communication was from texting, Dorothy had plans to move in with Brenda in Virginia and was looking forward to visiting family in Wisconsin this summer. Also, she was so looking forward to meeting Kenndra’s twin boys coming for Thanksgiving.

Mom we might not have told you the words “I Love You “but, we all do love you and will miss you.

Dorothy and I became acquainted when she started house sitting for me several years ago and she became my friend. I always knew when we left our pets with Dorothy they would be safe, well taken care of and loved. She gave me great comfort. I am so very sorry for your loss. That hurts all of you tremendously. A friend, Gwen Hart

I was so sorry to hear that Dorothy has passed. She was a wonderful/endearing person and will be sorely missed. We got to know her about 2 1/2 years ago when she started babysitting my dogs. They really liked her and always looked forward to seeing her. I am still still in shock to learn about your mother. I know she had her health problems, but she assured me she was dealing with them. Again, I am sorry to hear about Dorothy,. May she rest in peace. Please let us know when there will be services, we would like to attend.
