Ramona Mata, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many left this earth to be with our Lord on Monday December 21, 2020 after a brief illness.  Ramona was born on July 4, 1927 in Abo, New Mexico to Juan Blas and Gregorita (Salas) Flores.

Ramona moved to Vaughn, New Mexico with her family for her senior year of high school, after graduation she worked as a waitress in Vaughn.  She met the love of her life, William “Bill” Mata in Roswell, New Mexico.  Bill and Ramona were married in April 1957 and moved to Southern California, where Ramona continued to work in the food service industry.  In 1972, Bill and Ramona relocated their family back to Vaughn, New Mexico in order to be closer to her family.  Bill and Ramona ran several businesses in Vaughn and finally settled on the “El Corral Bar” which she and Bill ran for several years.  Bill and Ramona retired to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico in 1999 and lived there the rest of their lives.

While in California, Ramona enjoyed bowling and going to boxing matches at the Los Angeles Auditorium.  Ramona’s greatest treasures were her family, friends and the Catholic Church.  She was devoted to her parents, sisters, brother, children and grandchildren.   Her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was inspirational.
