Joe Turrietta, Age :81

Jan 20,1939---Dec 17,2020

Joe Turrietta, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed onto god on Thursday December 17th, 2020. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 20, 1939, to Pablo and Emma Turrietta.  

Joe attended Albuquerque Highschool up until the age of 17. Soon after receiving his GED, he joined the army of the United States of America. At the age of 25 he met his soulmate, Mercedes Romero. They continued their journey through life and traveled the states together, along with their six children. Once settling down he attended the University of New Mexico and graduated with his bachelor's degree in Sociology by the age of 37Ten years later he married Mercedes. Throughout his career of supervising Jack Candelaria Community Center, a boxing ring was built in his honor where he trained and inspired many youthful boxers. Following his retirement with the city at the age of 59, he then continued to live a long and happy life with friends and family. 

Anyone who had the honor of meeting Joe and getting to know him knew that he had a heart of gold. He was a blessing to everyone who crossed paths with him. In his younger age he enjoyed fishing, camping, and a passion for boxing. As he begun to get older he enjoyed the horse racing, going to the casino, and gardening in his yard.  

Joe is preceded in death by wife Mercedes Turrietta, sister Irene Anaya, and daughters Anna Ware, Linda Steen, and Mary Moyer. Along with his nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren 

Services will be held Monday January 4th  at St. Annes Catholic Church, 1400 arenal rd sw. Starting with the rosary and viewing at 8:15 am, followed by the mass at 9am.
