MARGARITA “MAGGIE” DURAN

 

Maria Margarita “Maggie” Duran, aged 97, of Talpa, NM, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Taos Living Center.  She was born on August 13, 1920 to the late Ramon and Guadalupe Tafoya.  On October 11, 1937 she married the late Jose Margarito “Maggie” Duran.  They were married for 66 blessed years. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Gilbert “Gilly” Vigil in 2014, and her sisters, Teresina Graham, Lala Romero, Merenciana Graham, Donelia Coca and Carolina Cortez.  She is survived by her five children, Betty Vigil (Gilbert) of Talpa, Manuel Duran (Rose) of Ranchitos, Gustavo Duran (Irma) of Ranchos de Taos, Herbert Duran (Andrea) of Albuquerque, and Evelyn Anaya (Steve “Bear”) of Ranchitos.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Donald, Gail, Yvette, Curtis, Joaquin “Cubby”, Sonya and Kalei’olani, 13 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.  A Rosary will be recited on October 11th at 7:00 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on October 12th at 10:00 am, both at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ranchos de Taos, NM.  Interment to follow immediately at the Talpa Cemetery.
