Obituaries

Jesse C. Maestas

Jesse Maestas, 40, a resident of Alcalde entered the gates of Heaven on May 3, 2018. Jesse was preceded in death by his Father, Delven Maestas, Grandparents Eloy and Sophia Maestas, Grandfather Avaristo Romero and Uncle Bruce.  Jesse is survived by his beloved Mother, Nary; Brothers Leroy and Ivan (Yvette); Sister Tonya (Steven), Grandmother Dora Romero; his girlfriend, Yvette; Nieces: Janelle, Janeen, Briana, Jordan, Kaitlan, Janaya, Lexi, Stevie Rae and Nephew Devonne.  Uncles Roy and Joe (Maria), Aunt Rose and Uncle Bob Reid and Cousin Jennifer who loved him like a son and brother, Adrina (Ricky), Annabelle (Mike), Betty (Doug), and Cindy.  Uncle Frankie (Vangie) Maestas and good friends, Letthie and Keith. Also, many other relatives and friends and also his dogs Mali, Shadow, and Diamond.

Jesse and his brothers were raised alongside their cousins and so they were all very close.  Grandma Dora babysat them while their mother was at school and work so he developed a strong bond with Grandma and Grandpa Romero.  As a young boy he spent time with his aunt in the East and developed a love for deep sea fishing from his uncle and managed to collect a few pet hermit crabs that he brought back to New Mexico.  Jesse had a lifetime love of animals and to the end of his life was happy to show his ducks, geese, chickens and roosters because everyone was curious to see what his latest addition was.  He loved the outdoors: camping, fishing, and hunting and gardening.

Above all Jesse loved and believed in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. Jesse was a quiet and tranquil man but very compassionate and loving who had a strong love for his mother, brothers and extended family. He was peaceful and easygoing. Jesse will always be remembered for the fine man he was and he will be deeply missed by all his family and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at the Rock Christian Outreach, 919 N. Riverside Drive in Española, NM, at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
