Jon Wade Picolet, 59, passed away in his home on Sunday May 6, 2018


A celebration of life will be held Friday May 25 at the Council Grove United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 21 North Mission St, Council Grove, KS 66846 from 1pm to 3 pm, come and go. All who knew and loved him are welcome! Memorials can be made to the Jon Picolet Memorial Fund at the Council Grove Farmers and Drovers Bank; a donation to the New Mexico Center for Therapeutic Riding will be made per his desires. 


Jon was born January 17, 1959 in Council Grove to James and Ada (Finch) Picolet. He graduated from Council Grove High School in 1977.  On June 7, 1981, he married Cheryl Wright. They owned and operated a cattle ranch until moving to Bellingham, WA in 2003. In 2015, they temporarily relocated to Santa Fe, NW with the intention of moving back to WA after Cheryl completed her Master of Art Therapy. Jon enjoyed being outdoors, spending time with his animals, and was an avid film fan.  He also had a knack for making friends wherever he went and enjoyed mentoring coworkers. Jon was a resourceful and resilient man with a unique sense of humor and deep love for his family.


Jon is survived by his wife Cheryl of Santa Fe, NM, his son Matt and wife Jessica, of Tescott, KS, daughter Erin of Mill Creek, WA, and son Michael of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Kaylee and Johnna Picolet:  his brother JD and wife Theresa of Wilsey, KS, his sister Daisy Schalles and husband Bob of Manhattan, KS; Cheryl’s parents Velma and Bill Dickson of Council Grove, Don and Betsy Wright of Overland Park and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Dad in 2002 and Mom in 2011.
