Joyce Marilyn Quintana
February 16, 1947 -- August 05, 2018

Joyce Marilyn Quintana, daughter to Virginia and Eliseo Chavez, was born in Belen, New Mexico. Loving, giving, and caring are few words that scratch the surface to describe Joyce Quintana.  Joyce always knew how to bring the best out of her family, friends, and coworkers.  Her endless strength, selfless actions, and jovial spirit are remembered by all whose hearts she touched.  Joyce embarked on her final journey to celebrate her life with the Lord on Aug 5th, 2018.

Joyce became a mother at the young age of 19 and was known by her three kids to be the family physician, a teacher, a counselor, a problem solver, and a disciplinarian. She was always there for her family no matter the situation. Joyce also became a wife, to her partner in life Frank Quintana, at the age of 20. Joyce had a successful, thriving career working for the federal government. She was recognized and received an award for creating a Civil Service outreach program still in use today at the USDA Forest Service.  For her efforts, she was invited to the Clinton inaugural dinner as a professional civil right’s coordinator.  After Joyce retired, she spent much of her time volunteering at the church helping people in need.  Even after Joyce’s injury in 2001, which was the result of a building evacuation during the aftermath of 911, she continued to be an inspiration to all her friends and family. Her unwavering strength, kindness, and belief in god were not thwarted as her health diminished.

Joyce’s love is carried on by her partner in life for 50 years, Frank Sr and her three children Carolyn, Frank Jr, and Jamie.  The oldest of four children, Joyce is survived by her three brothers Martin, Andrew, and Michael. She was a grandmother to five children and a great grandmother to one.

Joyce would like to extend a warm thanks to the countless people who visited her, supported her, and cared for her while sick.  Joyce sends a special thanks to Carolyn and Kevin for allowing her to stay at their home and for taking care of her with such love.  Joyce also thanks everyone from hospice for taking great care of her, and to Dr. Penny for her special treatment and love.

A service for Joyce will be held at Our Lady of Annunciation Parish, 2532 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico 87110 August 14th at 830am, 2018.  For those wanting to attend the Rosary, which is optional, it will begin at 8am.
