Steven Gomez

Obituary of Steven Patrick Gomez

Steven Patrick Gomez "Sparky" 53 of Albuquerque NM was called to Heaven on April 18th, 2021. He was born on October 12th, 1967 in Albuquerque NM to Dionicio Gomez & Dulcenia Serna Gomez, he was their second born son. He grew up in Albuquerque and remained a lifetime New Mexico resident. He moved to Silver City New Mexico when he married his wife of 38 years Cindy Gomez. They had four children he was very proud of. He coached his daughter's softball teams and spent tireless hours working at the local mine to support his family. He was a man of God and would talk to anyone about his faith and love for the Lord. He was a kind, funny, loving person that would talk to anyone and everyone. I do not think he ever met someone that he could not make laugh or feel like they had a new or old friend. He believed strongly in family, community and hard work. He was so very proud of his kids and grandkids and would talk them up to anyone that would listen. He was an entrepreneur that started a very successful food truck where he sold hugs. Really Hugs! One of the things he enjoyed most was feeding people that could not afford to eat or giving little kids chips/drinks for free when they walked by. He also founded Smile Now Cry Later Salsa. He built many lowriders with his best friend and son Lorenzo. He enjoyed cruising with his son while slowing down traffic or making his grand entrance to events while blasting his favorite song "I Want A Love I Can See". He was a dedicated advocate for the lowrider community. He loved spending time with all his kids and grandkids doing anything. His grandkids adored their 'Papa", he was the best Papa. His pallbearers are his Son Lorenzo, Grandsons Nathan, Caleb, Logan & Angel along with his son in laws Mario, Emmanuel & Ernest. He is survived by his wife Cindy, daughter Lauren Marquez and her spouse Mario Marquez, daughter Ashley Gomez and partner Ernest Herrera Jr., daughter Gina Gomez and fiancé Emmanuel Mena, son Lorenzo Gomez and fiancé Melinda Valdez. His Grandchildren, Nathanial, Caleb, Logan, Angel, Greg, Emmanuel Jr., Arturo, Veronica, Naomi, Lorena, Heaven and unborn baby Stevie, which Papa will be picking and sending to his son. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dionicio & Dulcenia, brother David.
