Obituary of Douglas Conan Cox

Douglas Conan Cox, a general contractor and long-time resident of Santa Fe, NM passed away peacefully at home on September 7, 2021 at the age 67. Doug was born on June 20, 1954 in San Antonio, Texas. He grew up in El Paso, Texas. Doug is survived by his brother, John Cox, of Flagstaff, Arizona; daughter Brandie Succardi and son-in-law Frank Succardi, both of Santa Fe; nephews Larry Cantrel of Goldendale, Washingtion and Daniel Warren and granddaughter Grace Warren, all of Abilene, Texas; other nieces, nehews and cousins; and honorary family Adrienne Palmer of El Paso, Texas and Sara Stewart of San diego, CA.

 He also leaves a legacy of numerous friends, both in Santa Fe, NM and El Paso, Texas. He is predeceased by his parents, Ardis Tillman Cox and Frances Hagebush Cox; and sister, Judith Carol Cantrel. Doug donated his time, talents and financial support to many causes including his special Santa Fe non-profit, Kindred Spirits NM Animal Sanctuary.

Doug was a triathlete for many years. He enjoyed traveling and his favorite destinations were Sedona, AZ and the Outer Banks of North Carolina. He served in the US Army stationed in Italy and Germany. He attended Santa Fe Comminity College. He worked as a waiter in Santa Fe and as a dog trainer while honing his contractor skills, later specializing in residential remodeling and closet design. A life celebration is being planned for a later date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be sent to Kindred Spirits NM Animal Sancturary, 3749 NM 14, Santa Fe, NM, 87508.
