Scott Berry, Sr.

Obituary of Scott Paul Berry, Sr.

Scott Paul Berry, Sr. passed away on December 22, 2021. He was born August 24, 1956, the third child of James M. and Dorothy M. (Beede) Berry. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Zella E. (Hollingshead); two children, Melissa A. (Kelly Morgan) Berry and Scott P. (Brittany N.) Berry Jr.; three grandchildren, Darin T. Leslie, Josef D. Hammar, and Korie R. Berry; two siblings, Susan C. (William) Black and Wayne K. Berry; as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Scott grew up in Columbiana, Ohio, joined the US Air Force in February 1977, and served nearly 18 years at duty stations from Guam to England. After retiring he became a Special Education teacher, serving in APS, DLD Sycamore, and Pathways Academy schools. During a mission trip to the Philippines, he learned that many children on rural islands were not able to finish primary education because of financial needs. This tore at Scott’s heart, and he soon founded Educate: Bohol as a way to help many families.

Scott enjoyed experiencing new things throughout his life, but mostly he enjoyed meeting new people and learning new things. Since retiring from teaching he again took up his pen and began writing books publishing under his own name; he also did ghost writing for many other published authors.
