Ernesto C'deBaca

Obituary of Ernesto C'deBaca

Neto C’deBaca was born in a small casita on Barela Street, December 6, 1938, to Marcos and Eurcina (Ortiz) C’deBaca in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

He enlisted in the U.S. Airforce and was stationed in Puerto Rico. While on assignment in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he met and later married Clide Bustos. Together they had five sons and one daughter, Mark and Henrietta, Tony and Kathy, Frank and Melissa, Rick and Joanne, George and Mikala and Mimi and David.

Neto was a man of many talents, from being a licensed aircraft mechanic for the airlines, to building the family home in La Cienega, NM from the ground up, to owning his own automotive shop, Ernie’s Auto. There was not much this man could not do.

You can’t talk about Neto without talking about his loyalty and kindness. If you were a friend of Neto’s, then that made you family and his generosity knew no bounds. You also can’t talk about him without talking about his sense of humor. It was always outrageous, and he would do anything to get a laugh out of you.

On December 31, 2021, Neto passed away peacefully in his sleep. He is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Mimi, granddaughter Laura, brothers Billy and Lando, sister Cecilia and Jack Giles, mother-in-law Antonia, and many aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

Neto is survived by his wife Clide, 5 sons, 22 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and brother JoJo.

We are all better people for the time we were lucky to spend with him. Whether going hunting, going for wood, or fixing that broke down car. It would be impossible to count all the people whose life he touched.
