Obituary of Krystal Marie Lopez

Krystal Marie López

Our lives have been plunged into sadness and grief over the loss of our beloved Krystal Marie López. She passed away unexpectedly on December 27, 2021, at the age of 35. Her passing comes just weeks after her birthday, November 21, and days following the death of her uncle Robert Nieto.

Her life was far too short for the love and light she gave this world. For those of us who were fortunate to be touched by her, our lives are forever blessed because of her presence. Krystal left an imprint in our hearts that greatly exceeds the amount of time she lived.

Krystal shared a deep love with her husband, Matthew, and was proud to hold the title of Mrs. López. They were married on October 10, 2020, in front of their close family members and friends. Although their marriage was far too short, Matthew and Krystal knew each other for many years and officially became inseparable four years ago. They had a collaborative, caring and loving relationship based on a deep love for each other.

The loving couple and their children created a strong and loving family unit. As a family they did art and craft projects, went camping, hiking, took road trips, and created memories that will forever be cherished. She was a gentle and caring person who loved spending time with her family and friends. In her son Romeo’s words, she was the “best sports mom and so much more.” Her family was her life.

Even though her existence is not in this world any longer, her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. She is survived by her husband, Matthew López Sr.; children, Felicia López, Romeo Melendrez, Matthew López Jr., and Rocco Melendrez; parents, Dolores Nieto, and Benny Nieto; in-laws Manny and Julie Adams; brother-in-law Daniel López and wife Helen; sister-in-law, Breanna López and fiancé Chris Molina; nieces, Mariah, Isabella, and Ava; uncle Frank and aunt Hope Hinojosa, and their children, Savannah Padilla, Mercedes and Ted Trujillo and their daughter, Abra Trujillo; and Andre Padilla and his daughter, Nevaeh Padilla; and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.

To say that her family and friends will miss her greatly is an understatement.

A memorial service will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, January 28 at Riverside Funeral Home in Albuquerque.
