Obituary of Dennis E. Chavez

Dennis Chavez (Chicago) age 75 of Chimayo went to be with the Lord January 20th, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. Dennis was a US Army Veteran, family comedian, and lowrider lover. He loved his family dearly, spending time with family and friends was his passion. He loved the great outdoors, hunting, camping, and going for wood. 

He is preceded in death by his parents Patricio and Bersabe Chavez; siblings Rudy, Patricio Jr., Ofene, and Paulita; In-laws Tribino and Clara Martinez. 

He is survived by his wife of 56 years Evie Chavez, son Patricio Chavez (Shawna), Clarise Chavez (Rob); grandchildren Patrick (Kristina), Steven, Theresa, Chantal (Leondre), Savannah, and Sarayah; great grandchildren Hailey, Maya, Patrick Jr., Kehlani; Kathy Duran who he thought of as a daughter, Daniel Sanchez who he thought of as a grandson, and many other relatives and friends. 

Serving as pallbearers are his grandchildren Patrick, Steven, and Theresa Chavez, Chantal Leau, Savannah and Sarayah Martinez, Daniel Sanchez, and great-granddaughter Hailey Chavez. Serving as honorary pallbearers are his great-grandchildren Maya Chavez, Patrick Jr. Chavez, Kehlani Leau, long life friend Dennis Duran, and nephews Zachary and Cippy Martinez. 

Services will be held at The Holy Family Parish Church in Chimayo on February 7th, 2022 with a Rosary beginning at 1pm and mass at 2pm. Burial will be held at the Santa Fe National Cemetery on February 8th, 2022 at 10:30am.
