Obituary of Vickie Long

Vicki, born February 17,1933, went home to her Lord on January 11, 2022. She is survived by those who loved her dearly.  Her daughters Marie Aberant and Anne Currier along with her grandchildren Justin Gorham, Greg Gorham, Michael Gorham, Shannon Gorham, Gene Currier, and Danielle Currier, and great grandchildren Elizabeth, Michelle, Christopher, Alaandria, Justin, Brynn, Marie, Constance, Billyanna, Evan, Zechariah, and Rebekah. She will also be missed by many other loved ones and friends.

Vicki worked hard all her life, starting with a tour in the US Marine Corp, followed by 37 years with Mountain Bell, retiring for the first time from Quest. Vicki was a strong union member rising to the Presidency of the Communications Workers of America, a post she held for several years. She operated Vicki’s Donuts in Albuquerque’s South Valley for several years. Afterwards, she worked for Southwest Airlines for 20 years, and again, led the local International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union as President before finally retiring. Her life was a testament for how she loved her family, friends and her work.

Services will be on February 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM with visitation at 9:30 AM at Calvary Chapel Rio Grande Valley.
