Hi, My name is Alyssa McAlpin, I was one of Mr. Wayne's Caregivers at Brookdale SL.(My condolences to the family)
I met him 9 months ago back in July 2021. I learned that he was a very funny guy and loved to tell jokes, and learned what foods he liked and didn't care for. I loved talking to him, we had some really good conversations up until he couldn't anymore. He was a good man, funny, caring and loving. Everyone at BSL loved him and would laugh with him at his jokes. He always offered me some of his snacks, gum or drinks. I would kindly decline but it's the thought that counted. I always looked forward to seeing him and helping him out. He loved talking, cracking jokes, enjoyed just about enjoyed anything. He loved a good head or back scratch. I miss him dearly, he was my buddy. He couldn't remember my name but he always called me Buddy. I would see him, wave and go " Hey, Mr. Wayne!" He then would go "Hey!! Buddy or he would say Hi! , in a funny voice. I was with him the night before he passed and I felt so sad. I was losing another buddy of mine. But I know where he was going and he was about to go Home. He knew I was there with him. I talked to him, held his hand, he constantly squeezed my hand, I told him that I love him, a couple times he mouthed he loved me too. I told him that everything is going to be ok. That I will be ok, I will miss him dearly, but that everything will be ok, his family will be ok and that everyone loves him and will miss him dearly. And to watch over all of us. .. I am so honored that I had the privilege to get to know Mr. Wayne, laugh with him, give him my big hugs, and be there when he needed a friend the most. Mr. Wayne, i miss and love you so much. Thank you for a wonderful and funny friendship, I will cherish it forever. - Alyssa McAlpin
