Obituary of Rosa Chavez

Rosa Chavez, 93, of Belen, New Mexico passed away in the hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 15, 2022.

She was born on July 19, 1928 in Manzano, New Mexico to Thomas Zamora and Rita Romero Zamora. 

Rosa was a life-long member of the Roman Catholic Church.

Rosa loved camping and fishing at the ranch, spending time with her children and grandchildren and crocheting.  She also liked going to the casino and playing Loteria.  If you ever went to her house she made sure you ate before you left.  She married Salomon Chavez on August 7, 1947 in Punta de Agua, New Mexico. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Salomon Chavez, her daughters Tony Chavez, Sara Chavez and Corrine Lopez; granddaughter Monica Chavez; Daughter-in-law Gloria Chavez; Son-in-law Richard Lopez; Five brothers, Candelario, Juan, Luis, Benjamin and Antonio Zamora and one sister, Estella Zamora.  

She is survived by her son, Orlando Chavez, of Belen; daughter Beathrice and Husband Jerry Harrison of Encino; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister Dolores Gallegos of Clovis, New Mexico as well as numerous nieces and nephews and family and friends.  

Services pending and will be private and limited to immediatre family.
