Obituary of Pearl Diane Chavez

Pearl Diane Gomez Chavez, age 73, passed away in her home on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 from cancer.

She was born in Las Vegas, NM on March 14, 1949 but lived the majority of her life in Albuquerque.

Diane encountered many obstacles and difficulties but overcame them and worked her way through college as a single mother. She received a double major B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from the University of New Mexico and a M.A. in Counseling from Webster University. She dedicated herself to helping others and was an Alcohol/Drug and Mental Health Counselor.

She loved reading and had a vast library on every subject under the sun, music was always playing in her home and she loved dancing. Playing pool was also a passion and she would often join (and win) tournaments. More than anything, her greatest love was her family and she was always finding ways to show others she was thinking of them. She had the innate ability to make friends out of strangers and her family will tell you she was the strongest of us, the rock and the person you could always count on.

Above all of her vast qualities and accomplishments, her family wants it to be known that she was and continues to be loved and we will feel the loss until we meet again.

Diane leaves behind her daughters Natalie (Mario) Gonzalez and Serena Tomlin, her mother Lina Valdez, brothers Richard (Yvonne) Valdez and Donnie (Shirley) Valdez, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that are considered family.
