Obituary of Stephanie Sue Barela

Stephanie Sue Barela, 68, loving wife and mother, was called home to our Lord Jesus Christ on June 8, 2022, with her family by her side in Los Lunas, New Mexico.

Sue was born in Espanola, New Mexico to Victor and Rebecca Roybal. As a young girl, she attended St. Mary's Catholic School and spent her summers with her Grandma Sophia in Espanola. Sue attended and graduated from Albuquerque High School where she meet the love of her life, Dennis.

Sue and Dennis married at the young age of 18 in 1971 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Albuquerque. They soon moved to California and began their 50 year marriage. A few years later they moved back to New Mexico and settled in Los Lunas. Sue chose to be a stay-at-home mom and raised her three children. Throughout her life she devoted her time to her grandchildren and formed a close bond with each of them. Sue also was a caregiver to her grandmother, mother and goddaughter. She spent everyday with her husband by her side. She loved cooking, watching movies, going out to eat, reading and having family gatherings at home. Above all, her favorite pastime was sitting next to her husband and watching him paint. She found so much happiness with his art work that she has their home filled with his paintings.

Sue leaves behind her husband, Dennis; her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Veronica Barela; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Keith Trujillo, and Stephanie and Johnnyray Gallegos.
