Obituary of Gwendolyn Neolani Yancey

On Monday July 18, 2022, Gwendolyn Yancey loving mother, sister, grandma, and auntie went to be with the Lord at the age of 74.

Gwendolyn was born on June 12, 1948, in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii to Antone Carvalho Reis and Margaret Kameahou Kaui. She married James Yancey and raised 4 children together. Then moved to Killeen, Texas where she lived most of her life and then moved to Albuquerque, NM. Where she lived and she passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side.

Gwendolyn has a passion for singing, playing her ukulele, playing poker with her sister and nieces, and going to the casino. She loved to cook and spending time with her sister and all her nieces and nephews and loved Elvis Presley.

She is preceded in death by her husband James Yancey, sons Robert and Albert Ward, her parents Antone Reis and Margaret Kaui, brother Moses Kaui and sisters Jeanette Souza and Charlotte Mcumsy. She is survived by brothers Tony (Lorraine) Reis of Keapana and James (Allyson) Reis of Anahola, sister Cheryl Reis of Albuquerque, NM, daughter Renee of Albuquerque, NM and son Leonard Ward of California, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Gwendolyn was well loved and cared for by her sister and nieces until she passed away peacefully.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Montoya residence, and she will be laid to rest in Keapana, Hawaii at a later date.
