Obituary of Lucy Garcia

Lucy Garcia, 75, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away September 17, 2022, with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Gabino Garcia and Dominga Vigil, May 26, 1947, in Los Colonias, New Mexico. Lucy graduated from Pecos High School in 1965 and went on to work in a variety of career fields along with raising three children.

Lucy is survived by two children: Andrew Garcia and his wife, Stella Garcia, of Honolulu, HI; Tina Maldonado and her husband, Leroy P. Maldonado Jr., of Albuquerque, NM. She is also survived by four grandchildren: Michelle N. Garcia of Chicago, IL; Cheyanne R. Jameson; Celina E. Maldonado, and Jourdan Maldonado of Albuquerque, NM. Lucy leaves behind her Sister-in-law, Connie Garcia; Brother-in-law, Rudy Montoya; Brother, Florian and wife Edith Garcia; Sister, Gabby Smith; and Brother, Charlie and wife Lora Vigil. Lucy was predeceased by her oldest son, Remijo (Ray) Garcia; Brother, George Garcia; Sister, Julia Montoya; Sister, Guadalupe (Wally) Garcia; Sister, Ida Garcia; and Brother-in-law, Charles Smith.

Lucy was an amazingly talented cook, seamstress, and was blessed with the gift for growing and caring for plants like no other. She deeply loved her children and grandchildren, her cats, dogs and birds. Lucy was immensely proud of her family, and leaves behind nothing but precious beautiful memories to last a lifetime and beyond.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 7, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM. Her ashes will be placed in their final resting place at 11 a.m. at Fairview Memorial Park. The family insists that people make donations in support of Dementia Research, in lieu of sending flowers.
