Dr. Christopher Yates Brasmer passed away at the age of 71 on September 19, 2022 in Albuquerque, New Mexico at home with family. Christopher was born on December 29, 1950 in Urbana, Illinois to Dr. Timothy Huntington Brasmer and Elizabeth Brasmer (nee Hoskins). He served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala from 1973 - 1976. He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1987. He practiced in Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico specializing in large animal medicine. He was an avid volunteer of the Texas Equine Veterinary Association’s equitarian projects, attending their trips in Guatemala and Nicaragua. He strongly supported the causes of these trips, which are to help develop sustainable equine healthcare in under-developed nations and invest in the training of local veterinary students. When not working, Chris loved visiting any part of the Rocky Mountains and reading about anything to do with religion, history, and the sciences. He was known around the auction houses in New Mexico for his love for telling stories, his supportive attitude, and bad-mouthing bureaucracy. Christopher was preceded in death by his father, mother, and one brother. He is survived by his sister Sue, his brother Matthew, his five children, Wacey, Sheena (Katrina), Augustus, Rosa, and Nicolas, and his two grandchildren, Christiana and William.
