Obituary of Herminio Montoya

Herminio (Herman) Montoya, born April 23, 1930 went to rest in the arms of the Lord on December 10, 2022. Preceded in death by his wife Rosalie, parents Emiliano and Teresina Montoya and son Herman Jr. He is survived by his loving partner and caregiver Yvonne Lusk, sons Larry (Diane) and David (Anna), daughters Marcella (Rick), Viola (John) and Martha, 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was a self-proclaimed Soldier of Fortune having owned entrepreneurial businesses including Montoya Trucking, selling cars, roofing materials and landscape materials. He was a chess champion and led efforts in the land grant movement. Although he suffered many years he never lost his optimism, unconventional sense of humor and wit. He loved his family, catholic faith, praying and singing.

You are in heaven now and will always be in our hearts. Please join us in reciting a Rosary on Thursday 12/15 at 6:30 at Riverside Funeral Home in Santa Fe, burial services on Friday 12/17 at San Jose Church in La Cienega at 11:00, reception to follow at the La Cienega Community Center.
