I am the Daughter of the late Serafin Griego; May 9, 1891 – June 27, 1955 from Puerta de Luna, New Mexico and Celestina Sanchez y Griego, October 18, 1891 – Aug 11, 1973 from Anton Chico, New Mexico

I was born and raised in Vaughn New Mexico. I attended grade school and high school in Vaughn, New Mexico. I played the trumpet in the high school band, ran for the track team, played on the baseball team and basketball team. I played at the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas for about 4 years.

I played in The Griego Orchestra all over New Mexico and Texas as the drummer.

I worked as Vaughn Town Clerk with A. E. Huntsinger (Mayor of Vaughn at the time) from 1952 to 1956, Vaughn New Mexico.

I married Alfonso Joe Chavez son of Frank Sr. and Lola Chavez from Encino New Mexico the Vaughn City Hall on December 1, 1956.

I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico in December 1956

I have five children:

Arnold Chavez

Patricia A. Flammang

Maria E. Chavez-Mann

Alfred A. Chavez

Anthony D. Chavez (passed on August 8, 1993)

Three Grandson’s: Aaron Flammang, Zacchary Flammang and Levi Chavez (passed on December 30, 2009)

One Grand Daughter: Raquel P. Chavez

One Great Grand Daughter: Berkley Flammang

I belong to Holy Ghost Catholic Church since arriving in Albuquerque - now for over 66 years. I am an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, I say the Rosary on the first Friday of every month. I belong to the Rosary Alter Society and I currently am Vice President. I have previously served as President.

I worked for JC Penney from November 11, 1976 through July 26, 1995. For a short time I worked for home Healthcare Services as Personal Care Associate to my sister Elvira.

Those that have preceded me in death are my Father and Mother: Serafin and Celestina Griego. Five Brothers: Nick, Gilbert, Serafin, Alex and Efrin. Four Sisters: Flora Chavez, Irene Parrez, Virginia Griego, Elvira Chavez, Molly Kelly. My son Anthony and my grandson Levi.

Pallbearers - Arnold Chavez, Patricia Flammang, Alfred Chavez, Maria Mann, Doug Flammang, Aaron Flammang. Honorary Pallbearers - Zachary Flammang, Raquel Chavez, Berkley Flammang.
