Obituary of Ann Stackhouse Logan

Mrs. Ann S. Logan, 79, of Philadelphia, was given the ultimate Christmas gift when she went home to Jesus peacefully in her sleep early in the morning on December 25, 2022, after a difficult battle with dementia. She was a devoted wife and loving mother.

Born on September 10, 1943 to two loving parents, Anna and Harry Stackhouse in Philadelphia, Ann was a great support to her family as she grew into adulthood. Ann enjoyed pastimes such as cooking, dancing, needlepoint, gardening, and swimming. After graduating from the Stevens School, an all-girls college preparatory school in Chestnut Hill, Ann went on to obtain a degree in May of 1965 in Secondary Education at West Chester State College in Pennsylvania, with a focus on teaching Spanish and French to underserved communities. She then pursued a Master’s Degree in Library Sciences from Drexel University.

While at West Chester State College Ann met her future husband, and love of her life, Alfred Lee Logan, III. The two fell in love and were a match made in heaven, going on to have one daughter, Pamela D. Logan. Being a mother and wife was one of the most important parts of Ann’s life, and she shared her love with her family by creating elaborate meals and being a strong, supportive, and witty life of the party. An avid foodie, and lover of fashion, art, travel and antiques, Ann lived a life that was full of an elegance reminiscent of a time gone by, and was very charitable throughout her years.

Ann is survived by her husband, Alfred L. Logan, III, her daughter, Pamela D. Logan, her son-in-law, Jason A. Tolkaz, her dog-companion, Nappy, her brother-in-law, Richard C. Logan, her sister-in-law, Barbara L. Logan, and her niece, Jennifer Logan. We will all miss her dearly.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Jemez Valley Animal Amigos (a no-kill rescue group in the Northern New Mexico Jemez Mountains https://jemezanimalamigos.org/), in honor of Ann’s great love of animals. Donations can be made online, or if you would prefer to send a check or money order, please send it to: JVAA, PO Box 333, Jemez Springs, NM 87025
