Obituary of Laura Virginia Grissom

Our beloved Laura V. Grissom, 101, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2023 surrounded by her family. 

Laura was born on July 22, 1921 near Las Cruces, New Mexico.  After graduation from Anthony HS she continued her education, graduating in 1942 with a degree in English from the University of New Mexico. That's where she met her husband, Richard (Dick) Grissom, Jr.  After his tour of duty in the Navy during WWII, they took up residence in Albuqerque for the remainder of their lives.

Laura and Dick went on to have 3 children, 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren, all of whom she loved  dearly. 

They celebrated 43 years of marriage before his passing in 1985.

She was preceded in death by her husband Dick, parents John Thomas and Eloie Bradshaw, her brother Tommy Bradshaw, and sisters in law, Lucille and Maxine.

Laura loved her family dearly and will be forever cherished and missed by her children and their spouses: Janet Wisecarver, Dorothy Elwood, Richard Grissom, and Sue Myatt

Her memory will live on with her grandchildren, Sean Wisecarver, Brian Wisecarver and Sharon Whitlock-Caudill, Sheila and Carl Roberts, Sarah and Cory Tritschler, Elizabeth and Robert Kerr, and Michael and Heather Elwood.

Her great grandchildren Ricky Wisecarver, Brian Roberts, Wade and Kayleigh Roberts, Tomas Feucht, Zoe and Micheal Simmons,Tremaine Tritschler, Laura Tritschler, Elliot Kerr, Sullivan Kerr, Ramona-Jane Kerr, Victor Kerr, Brooke Elwood, and Bennett Elwood will also share loving memories of Grammy.

Her family was the light of her life and she was a dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, colleague, and friend.  She lived a life of honesty and integrity and will be truly missed and never forgotten.

There are no words to expresss how grateful and blessed we are to Sean for his devotion to his granny and his care for her in her later years.  Sean, Brian and Sheila were her support and she so appreciated their sweet affection.

Pall bearers will be Ricky Wisecarver, Michael Elwood, Brian and Wade Roberts as well as Kaitlyn and Samantha Terrazas.

Services will be held at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd NE. on Friday, January 27 10:00am.  Burial immediately following at Fairview Cemetery.
