Obituary of Michelle Otero

Michelle Otero, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on February 2, 2023, at her home.  She was born May 16, 1972 to Evelyn Crespin and Steven Tapia. She graduated from Albuquerque High School in 1990.  In her younger years, Michelle enjoyed family outings, making home movies, listening to music, adventuring outdoors, spending time with her grandparents, and dressing up in costumes for any occasion.  As a teenager, she enjoyed going to school dances in the most beautiful dresses and was named first princess at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  She had a smile and a laugh that were contagious and a creative imagination that she passed on to her two children.  She had the best luck, which won her paid trips out of town, concert tickets, winning scratcher tickets, and the best parking spots.  She was the most kindhearted, loving, caring, funny and generous woman.  She was always wanting and willing to help and would give you her last dollar.  She was incredibly smart, filled with so much energy and was beautiful inside and out.  Her love of cooking, baking, drawing, board games, Snoopy, Keanu Reeves and love for all animals will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her grandmother Frances Crespin.  She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Crespin; her children, Elena Estrada and Gabriel Estrada; her granddaughter Alice Crespin; her sisters Leslie Otero and Lori Otero; and her grandfather Antonio Crespin. 

Services will be held at

Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 301 Stover Ave SW, on February 17, 2023 at 9:00 AM.

Internment will follow at Fairview Memorial Park, 700 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106 at 12:00 PM. 

A reception will be held at Yoli’s Place, 5820 Zuni Rd SE 87108 between 1:00 and 4:00 PM.
