Obituary of Rosa Christopherson

 

On Wednesday, February 15, 2023, Rosita De Francesco Christopherson known more commonly as Rosa, Grandma, Nonna and Mrs. Christopherson to those that knew and loved her, passed away while sleeping peacefully at her home in Albuquerque, NM.

Born in Naples, Italy, she was 95 years old when she went to meet our heavenly father.

After surviving World War II, Rosa followed her husband Frederick Christopherson to America. She later became a U.S. Citizen in 1949.

Rosa was devoted to the Catholic Church having attended convent school as a young girl. As an adult, Rosa attended mass weekly, prayed the rosary daily, was a Eucharistic minister and was a guiding force in ensuring that those who she loved had a relationship with the Lord.

"Nonna," which means grandmother in Italian, was the epitome of an Italian Grandmother. At barley 5 feet tall, she towered over you with her tough-as-nails attitude, strong faith, cleanliness and the love and dedication she had to her family.

Rosa was the mother of seven children, as well as the proud Nonna of 12 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brother, husband and granddaughter.

A celebration of Rosa’s life will be held on Friday, Feb. 24, at 10 a.m., at Our Lady of Annunciation Catholic Church, 2621 Vermont St. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87110. She will be buried at Heaven Gate Catholic Cemetery, 7999 Wyoming Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM. 

A rosary will be held in her honor on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 5 p.m. at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd. NE.

While Rosa's family grieves her loss, they choose to remember her in a way that honors her beautiful faith. They ask that as an alternative to flowers, donations be made to Our Lady of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Albuquerque, NM – “In Memory Of” – Rosa Christopherson.
