Obituary of Leroy Carmel Lujan

On Saturday, February 18th, 2023, Leroy Lujan, Loving Son, Brother and Uncle, passed at age 72 following a long battle with Alzheimers’s Disease.

Leroy was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Roberto and Aurora (Maldonado) Lujan, the 9th of 15 children.

As a youngster, Leroy sold newspapers alongside his brothers. His freshman year of high school, he played football. He worked at the Journal Newspaper every Saturday with his cousins and brothers. He worked most of his adult life at the State Capital Round House in Santa Fe as a custodian.

Having never been married and having no children, Leroy poured out his love to his many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Leroy was predeceased by his parents and his brother Ralph, Richard, Florenio, and his sister Laura. He is survived by his siblings, Frank and his wife Rita, Odelia, Gilbert and his wife Corrine, Robert and his wife Hope, Abran and his wife Lilly, Michael and his wife Sally, Oliver and his wife Gloria, Telesfor, David and his wife Linda, Mario and his wife Mayella, his Brother in law Ramon Romero and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation and viewing will be held on Wednesday at 08:00 a.m. at Incarnation Church at 2309 Monterrey Road NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144. Followed by the Rosary at 08:30 a.m. and funeral mass at 09:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Mount Calvary Cemetery at 1900 Edith Blvd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.

Donations of flowers may be sent to Church of the Incarnation at 2309 Monterrey Rd. NE, Rio Rancho, NM 87144 by 07:30 am on Wednesday, March 1st or to Riverside Funeral Home at 225 San Mateo Blvd, Albuquerque , NM 87108 by Tuesday afternoon, February 28th. Riverside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
