Obituary of Jimmy Marquez

Jimmy T. Marquez, of Moriarty, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday February 15, 2023 at the age of 74.  Jimmy was born in Vaughn, NM on March 5,1948, to Pasqual and Frances Marquez.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Marquez (2021); his daughter, Yvonne Marquez (1973); his parents, Pasqual and Frances Marquez; three brothers, Pasqual Jr., Jesus and Silviano; one sister, Dolores; one half brother, Paul Marquez; and one half sister, Sara Pena.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter and son in law, Melissa Marquez Moya and Mark Moya; stepdaughter, Bethany Trujillo; grandchildren, Anastasia Medina, Ariel Marquez, Mary Marquez, Brigette Marquez and Ezekiel Marquez; siblings, Raymond Marquez and wife Dora, Phillip Marquez and wife April, Ernest Marquez and wife Cynthia, Viola Marquez, Yolanda Lovett and husband Nathan, Norma Henderson and husband Ray; one half sibling, Carlos Tapia and wife Patsy.

Jimmy served in the Army as a medic from 03/27/1968-03/18/1970.  He was a self-taught jack-of-all-trades.  He spent his life working in construction throughout New Mexico and had a very strong work ethic.  He was always willing to help others, especially his family and children.  He was a good son, brother, grandfather and father,  His wit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.

Pallbearers will include Mark Moya, Raymond Marquez, Phillip Marquez, Ernest Marquez, Christopher Marquez and Ray Henderson.

A rosary will be recited at Our Lady of Mount Carmel at 215 Girard Ave Moriarty, NM 87035 at 9am with funeral mass to follow.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn, NM.
