Obituary of Lillian A. Martinez

Lillian Adelina Martinez, 83 of Holman, NM was born to Alfonso and Priscilla Cruz on November 22, 1939, in Holman, NM. The beloved wife, aunt, and friend of many passed away on Wednesday March 08, 2023. Lillian is survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly, as well as, many friends, Godchildren, and compadres.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, Alfonso & Priscilla Cruz, husband Octaviano (Toby) Martinez, brothers Phillip Cruz, Pasqual Martinez, and Alfonso Cruz.

Lillian grew up on the family ranch in Holman, NM where she worked side by side with her brothers tending cattle, harvesting the fields and working the family garden. Lillian enjoyed the outdoors and was always up for a nice picnic with friends and family. Lillian was a very loving person who cared for and helped raise her nieces and nephews as her own.

Lillian was a devout Catholic and a lifelong member of St. Gertrude Parish. Lillian was also a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Society, La Sociedad Catolica de San Jose, volunteer member of St. Vincent de Paul and Knights of Columbus. Lillian supported and volunteered in numerous Church sponsored activities and functions.

Services will take place on Saturday March 25, 2023, at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Mora, NM. The rosary will be prayed at 10:00AM, Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM with Fr. Dale Craig S.O.L.T. presiding. Reception will be announced following the eulogy. Burial will follow the mass at Santa Teresita del Nino Jesus in El Turquillo, NM.

A special thanks to all the staff at Amber Care and Vida Encantada Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Las Vegas, NM for the care and compassion provided to Lillian during her illness, Fr. Dale Craig S.O.L.T. and Sister Esperanza for her Sunday visits, Communion, and prayers, loving nieces and nephews who were at her side daily, friends and family that visited and prayed for her.

Cremation is entrusted to Riverside Funeral Home in Santa Fe, New Mexico
