Obituary of Nadine Lola Padilla

Nadine Lola Padilla joined her Lord and Savior on March 18, 2023, passing away peacefully at home with her family.  She was born on August 31, 1936 in La Joya, NM to David and Dolores “Lola” Armijo who both preceded her in death.  Nadine worked for the APS Foster Grandparent Program with special needs children.  Nadine was a member of the women’s auxiliary where she was a Chaplain.  She also worked in the bakery industry for many years, but what she is most proud of is being a homemaker for her children and grandchildren, and then spending the last 10 years enjoying her retirement.  Nadine spent many years providing communion to the homebound and serving and loving the Lord.  Nadine gave her life to Christ in her later years and was baptized at Sagebrush Church in 2022 at an Easter Service.

Our mom loved to travel, cook, dance (many polka contests), and the casinos!  Nadine traveled to Laughlin for Mother’s Day every year with her family and friends.  Nadine always had a house full for holidays, gatherings, and special occasions. Many of her nieces and nephews referred to her as “auntie Lola” and will miss her great cooking and feisty personality (as we all referred to it as the “Armijo personality”).

Nadine is survived by her 5 loving children Ruby Chavez and husband Paul, Ruth Chavez, and boyfriend Lolo Molina, Rita Trujillo, and husband Raymond, Ronnie Sanchez, and Ricky Sanchez, and wife Joann.  She had 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her one sibling David Armijo & wife Rachel.  Nadine was preceded in death by her grandson Victor Montoya, grandson Christopher Sanchez, and 7 siblings.

A Celebration of Life (service and reception) for Nadine will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023, at the Moose Lodge on 2121 Edith Blvd NE at 12:00 pm.  Our beautiful mom will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial in the Garden Center on Monday, April 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm.

Our family sends out a sincere gratitude to our cousin (mom’s niece) Ramona “Nunie” Martinez for the exceptional and loving care she provided to mom.  We don’t know what we would have done without her!

Mom, we love and miss you so much, but we all know without a doubt that you are in a much better place.
