Obituary of Gabriel Henry Gurule

Gabriel Henry Gurule, 17, our most beloved son, brother, family member and friend, was called home to be with our Lord on Friday, April 21st, 2023, after a tragic act of gun violence. Gabriel was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Henry Gurule and Jennifer Lucero on November 1st , 2005. He was known to all as Gabriel, Gabe, son, brother, and friend. As a child he loved to skateboard and developed a love for cars as he grew older (mostly fast cars), going to car meets, and riding dirt bikes. He was a fearless soul and had a huge heart. He was so silly and loved to goof around, you could always find him laughing and telling stories. Although Gabriel was only 17 years old when he left this world, he touched so many people, and made friends wherever he went with his amazing sense of humor, bigger-than-life personality, and most of all, his contagious smile. His number one goal was to live life happily, and he did! Gabriel is survived by his loving parents, father and stepmother Henry and Kristen Gurule, his mother and stepfather Jennifer Lucero and Carlos Gutierrez. His brother Julian, who meant the whole world to him, and the wonderful, blended family that he was blessed to be a part of, stepsisters, Monique and Malaya Gutierrez, Angelica and Celina Large, and step-brother Joseph Large. Girlfriend Jade Otero who he loved & admired. Paternal grandmother Marcella Duran, maternal grandparents Loretta and Eugene Gallegos, and step-grandmother Diane Manzanares, as well as many uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends that loved Gabriel so much. We know that Gabriel was greeted in heaven by his great grandparents, Great Grandpa Gurule, Great Grandma Maes, Great Grandma and Grandpa Lucero, step-great-grandparents Fermin and Manuela Martinez, and Andres Manzanares, step-grandpa Carl Manzanares. We ask that you join us as we lay a piece of our heart to rest and celebrate his amazing soul and of course, in true flashy Gabriel fashion, you “dress to impress” Services will be held on May 2nd, 2023, at St. Jude Thaddeus Church at 5712 Paradise Blvd NW Albuquerque, NM 87112. We will start with a viewing at 8:30am, rosary at 9:30am, mass at 10:15am and a reception from 1pm to 4pm at American Legion Post 13 located at 1201 Legion Rd NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102.
