Obituary of Wayne James Herman

WAYNE JAMES HERMAN (86) passed away on April 27th, 2023. He was born in Chicago, IL. Wayne served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960 and in the Coast guard in 1961. He was the 1956 Chicago City table tennis champion. Wayne moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1962 for a job opportunity and started a family in 1963. He graduated from UNM with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. Wayne worked as a biomedical engineer with Presbyterian Hospital and later drove a school bus for APS for several years before retiring. He also played on a Masters senior softball team and was a nationally ranked chess player.
 

He is preceded in death by his mother Mildred Soldat, father Rudolph F. Herman III, his brother Rudolph F. Herman IV, his nephew Dale Herman and his grandson Rudolph F. Herman Jr. He married Marlene Herman (Raj) in Jan 1963. Wayne is survived by wife Marlene, his son Rudolph F. Herman (Carol) and daughter Kim M. Trujeque (Gabriel), his granddaughter Amanda M. Fletcher (Seth), 3 grandchildren Ariana, Matalene, and Jude in addition to many cousins, nieces and nephews and extended family members. The Pall bears will be Rudolph F. Herman, Gabriel Trujeque, Seth Fletcher, Cosmes Madrid, Daniel Bales, and Vince Guillen.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 9th from 9am-11am at Riverside Funeral Home Chapel located at 225 San Mate Blvd N.E. Albuquerque, NM 87108. Burial will follow at 1pm at the Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N. Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
