Obituary of Jimmy Dale Tafoya Sr.

Jimmy Dale was born in Mobile, Alabama on May 21,1952 to Maxine Tafoya and Roy Grover Clarke. Jimmy and Maxine moved to Capulin, NM where he was raised by Edward (who preceded his death) and Maxine Tafoya. Jimmy was the oldest of four boys Ray Lynn, Ronald Joe and Richard John.

Jimmy graduated from Des Moines High School in 1970, where he enjoyed playing basketball. After high school Jimmy joined the Navy and proudly served his country for 20 years before retiring in 1990. During that time he and his wife Cheryl McKinney had four children, Annie, Catherine, Randy and Michael. After retirement he moved the family back to New Mexico and worked various jobs. This is where he met his second wife, Robin Mitchell and had another son, Bo.  

Jimmy loved to travel after retirement. He finally settled down in Crocker Missouri with Robin and Bo. Jimmy had a stroke in 2019 and recovered.. He then had heart surgery in February 2023 and had an extremely tough recovery. After his son Bo's unexpected passing in March Jimmy was called home to be with the Lord on April 11, 2023.

Jimmy enjoyed listening to Country Music, Country Dancing  and  watching Football. He was a Dallas Cowboys Fan through and through. He loved his family very much.

Jimmy is survived by his Mother, Maxine Tafoya of Capulin, Ex-Wife Robin and his Ex-Wife Cheryl . His Son, Jimmy Dale Tafoya Jr also know as Bo, preceded his death March 19, 2023. Daughters,  Annie Rosenberger, Catherine and Edward Duran. Son: Joseph and Andre McDonald-Tafoya, and Michael J. Tafoya. He had seven Grandchildren: Victoria Rosenberger, Nickolas Rosenberger, Jonathan Duran, Ekaterina Duran, Iridessa Duran, Jaden Tafoya and Lukas Tafoya. Brothers: Ray Tafoya, Ronald Tafoya who preceded his death, and Richard (Ricky) Tafoya. Followed by numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins to say the least. He was loved by not only family, but also his friends and military service members.

Jimmy Dale Tafoya will be buried with full Military Honors. A Graveside Funeral Service will be held on May 22, 2023 @ 1:30pm at Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501.
