John Duran

Obituary of John Duran

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John “Johnny” Duran. He passed away peacefully on Monday May 8th, 2023 surrounded by his mother, son and sisters. He was born June 29th, 1969 in Albuquerque, NM to Lorraine Duran Jimenez. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Peggy Duran, and grandfather Tranquilino Duran, four uncles and one aunt. Johnny is survived by his mother, son- Carlos Duran, sister - Francella Garcia and husband Richard, sister - Melissa Apodaca and husband Steve, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and many cousins.

Johnny was a man who lived on his terms, his life wasn’t always easy, although the one person who made it a little easier for him was his best friend - his Momma. She was the one person he could tell anything to, the one who would pick him up when he was down, and the one who was there for him every single moment. That’s what kept Johnny going. The best things about Johnny that will be missed include his smile, his tight hugs, and laughing at his own jokes. One thing that never wavered was his love for his family and his four fur babies. He loved to detail cars, play the machines at the casino, and his tobacco chew. His journey may have taken him many places, but he finished his journey here on earth in his grandmother’s home in the heart of Oldtown.
