Obituary of Ernest William Riach

On the evening of April 29, 2023, after a long battle with cancer, at the age of 64, Ernie passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Ernie was born on September 18, 1958 in Pusan, South Korea. At the age of 6 he and his brother and sister were adopted by an American couple and grew up in Wrangell, Alaska.

After graduating from high school, Ernie worked as a commercial fisherman and boat welder. He later moved to the Seattle/Portland area where he began his career in the car business. In 1993 Ernie relocated to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and in 1997 moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where he continued his career in the car business. In 2005 he became the general manager of Karl Malone Toyota, later called Larry H. Miller Toyota of Albuquerque, where he retired from in July of 2021.

Ernie’s hobbies included golfing, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Dolores Riach of Albuquerque, New Mexico children, Alexis Riach of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jacob Riach of Glendale, Arizona, daughter, Ashley, brother, Harold Shim of South Korea, sister, Margaret Bileinski of Minnesota, special niece, Aria Weinberg and family of California, along with other nieces and nephews, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Cleo Rael of Springer, New Mexico, and sister-in-law, Katrina Rael of Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Ernie has left many good memories and an amazing legacy for everyone whose life he touched.

Memorial services to be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Citizen Church located at 10500 Copper Ave. in Albuquerque New Mexico.
