Obituary of Albert Eras Jr

Albert Eras, Jr., passed away in the loving arms of his wife of 15 years, at the age of 60 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Albert always maintained his famous smile while courageously battling serious medical conditions for the last 20 years, to which he eventually succumbed. He was a beloved husband, father, son, the older of three brothers, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Albert's life reflected leadership qualities in both his personal and professional endeavors. He strived for both honesty in self and his authenticity. He graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico Department of Electrical and Computing Engineering. He earned a second Master’s of Systems Engineering degree from the Stevens Institute of Technology School of Systems and Enterprises. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories for 29 years in nuclear deterrence, weapon system surveillance and development. He was happiest spending time with Terri and his immediate family and was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his daughters, nieces and nephews.

Albert treated others with courtesy, kindness, deference, dignity, and civility. He allowed others to feel their self-worth and accepted the inherent flaws in all of us. The absence of his generous spirit will be felt by those who knew and loved him forever.

Albert is survived by his beloved wife, Terri McAbee, his loving mother, Estella Eras, his daughters and their spouses Abby and Austin Roll, Amy Eras and Alec Collins, his stepdaughter Laura Francis, his brothers and their spouses, Michael and Connie Eras, and Ken and Berlinda Eras. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Eras, Sr.

A celebration of life will be held on June 3, 2023, at Albuquerque Academy in the Simms Center for Performing Arts, located at 6400 Wyoming Blvd NE in Albuquerque, and will commence at 11:00 AM.
