Obituary of Robert Michael Friberg

Robert Michael Friberg, 75 years old, born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 17,1947 to Pearl (Cardon) Friberg and George Friberg. Robert passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in Albuquerque, NM.

Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter JoAnn and 3 step-children; granddaughter Dynasty and 9 other grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Deborah Grove and husband Richard of East Alton, Illinois, brother George Friberg and wife Mary of Albuquerque, sister Shirley Ann Ball, husband Ed (deceased) of Moss Point, Mississippi; and brother Jim Friberg and Jane of Salem, Oregon as well as many nieces, nephews and our best friends Margaret and Kelly Kinder of Moro, Illinois and his furry protector Raidar.

Bobby, as he was known, attended Albuquerque Public Schools and graduated from Albuquerque High School 1965. He joined the U.S. Army in 1967 and served on the battlefield during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged and returned to Albuquerque . He entered the workforce and met the love of his life Barbara. He loved his family, raised his granddaughter Dynasty and will be remembered for his love of classic cars, Atlanta Braves, Green Bay Packers and New York Rangers. His grandchildren commonly said, “if Papa can’t fix it, it can’t be fixed.” He loved building and repairing anything. The “honey do list” was never too long because he enjoyed helping his wife, especially in her flower garden. He was an excellent cook and loved to cook for family and friends.

Robert would be honored for you to please join the family for a Celebration of Life on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 4pm at Riverside Funeral Home, 225 San Mateo Blvd, Albuquerque, NM 87108.
