Reuben J Chavez

Reuben J Chavez, 73, passed away July 2nd, 2023 at his home in Peralta.

Reuben was born on October 27th, 1949 to Jose and Susie Chavez. He served in the Marine Corp and later married Jo-Ann Torres. They had 3 children.

Reuben volunteered at the Los Lunas Fire Dept. for 17 years along with Lito Chavez and Walter Baca whom were all good friends and whom he spoke of often.  Reuben worked at the Los Lunas Youth Center for several years where Frank Gurule and Jackie Aragon were mentors and good friends to him. He retired from the University of NM Hospital after 20 years.

Reuben was a giving person who would help others with anything they needed at anytime. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Reuben is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Susie Chavez; brothers, Tranquilino and Felipe; sisters Melicia and Socorro and great grandson Levi Nathaniel Brandt

Reuben is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Jo-Ann Chavez; sisters Estefanita & Alicia; children Max(Joanna), Rebecca Brandt(Luis) and Santiago. 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
